2001年奥斯卡颁奖典礼，首次为中国电影人夺得4座金像奖的《卧虎藏龙》，是近年来在国际影坛上引起较大反响的一部中国武侠片，尽管国内的观众和评论家对本片评价不高，但在欧美却获得众多赞扬。虽然这部电影在本质上是一部以武侠来包装的爱情片，但却拍出了跟其他传统武侠片全然不同的风味。《卧虎藏龙》的电影配乐透出一股深邃的东方音乐文化气息，人生的困惑和无奈用典型的中国情结表达了出来：舒缓而优美的旋律，惆怅而悲伤的人生。这音乐气息中透出的伤感就如同是对背负着太多压力的中国人的人生发出的一声叹息。
