该出手时就出手，眼看着“橡树岭男孩”，“阿拉巴马”这些花里胡哨的小孩在排行榜中上蹿下跳，老将们不动声色，打了几个电话，走进录音棚，然后吹着口哨，端着啤酒出来，后边跟着两眼放光，嘴咧到后脑勺的记者，“灭了！全被他们给灭了！老将出马，一个顶俩，这回是4个，等于灭了8个”。语无伦次的人和说不出话的人还有很多。1985年，多年来纯正乡村音乐的四大金刚约翰尼·卡什，威隆·詹宁斯，克里斯·克斯托弗森，威利·尼尔森组成了响马乐队。4把吉他，4把老嗓，4位词曲作者，4个传奇，他们让太多的歌迷狂喜，并且让太多拥有响亮名声的后辈们心生惭愧，那情景就像是4座无法逾越的高山在一夜之间合为一体。关于这4个响马，江湖上有太多的故事了。这首《魔鬼的右手》体现出完美的叙事魅力。
