1. Why?!?!
I started this project not just to commemorate the wonderful SLG
(SimuLation Game) series known as Langrisser, but to actually ADD to
its legend. (Hence, Langrisser LEGENDS. ^_^ )
The Langrisser series has, except for one game (Warsong for the
Genesis), not been released in the U.S. This is quite a tragic
loss, because this is, in my own opinion, the BEST strategy game
have ever played.
I wanted to add new features (character edit) and fix old problems
(the game doesn't give you the ability to buy elementals even after
you've earned them).
This project has gone through many changes. First, it was started as
a ROM hacking project. Later, it became an SRAM hacking project. Now,
finally, it has become a project to program an easy to use Der Langrisser
sram hacker.
Now, this project is (almost) over. It has accomplished most, though
not all, of the original objectives (see wish list). Except for some
minor updates, bug fixes, miracles (see wish list), etc., this will
probably be the LAST release by Langrisser Legends. Roto and I will
be starting on making an SRAM editor for Super Robot Wars 4.
Well, enough with the intro. Onto the good stuff...

derlsram.exe <--- The program
readme.txt <--- This file that you are reading. ;)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Usage
Execute derlsram.exe. When prompted type the filename of your save
RAM. (Note: The save RAM output for most emulators should be identical,
as the output is handled directly by the game's code.
After that you will get a menu that asks you which save game you wish to edit,
selecting the current battle will allow to to edit the data of your characters
and your enemy's during only the current battle. Selecting a save slot will
allow you make make altercations to all characters that may at one point join
your party.
After that the main menu will be displayed, the options are:
Moved: Toggles the byte used to determine whether a character has taken
his turn yet, if No Data is displayed it means either that the
character is not yet on the map, or you are editing a save slot.
Character Stats: Allows you to edit various stats for the character.
Current troops: Allows you to change the troops you character has under his
command.
Hireable Troops: Allows you to change the troops that the character may hire
at the beginning of combat.
Magic: Allows you to edit the magic that the character may cast.
Portrait: Allows you to edit the portrait use for the character in the menus.
Class: Allows you to change the class of the character.
Misc.: Allows you to edit a few thing relating to the entire save game in
general.
Next/Previous Character: Scrolls through the characters.
Save changes: Save all edits you have made.
Exit: Exits.

4. Credits
Roto (the maker of the BS Zelda hack) - For being a one-man programming
team, single handedly coding
Der SRAMgrisser, helped only by
the SRAM values that I supplied.
You RULE! :)
Mia Lakhm (the maker of the FF3 Leo hack) - for finding values in the
rom. Best wishes for your
career.
CzarDragon - for giving me info and advice on SRAM hacking.
LrdBozel (aka, Numquamex) - ME! ;)
And everyone else that's helped me from hacking to identifying
characters. :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Greets
Raine L. - Well, this is the surprise I was hyping. :) One of the few
people who stood by me when times got tough. Thanks for
everything. See you soon.
Semperex - Thanks for all the computer stuff that you've taught me and
for letting me parody your name. Best of luck in everything.
Warui Toransu - For all the Langrisser info and for translating the
game. Good luck with finishing the translation.
Zophar - For your emulation page (and especially, the ROM hacking
message board). It really helped. A toast to ZD.
Long live emulation.
To all the SNES emu programmers out there - This utility would be
worthless if there were no
emulators to run the saved
game. :)
And to all our fans out there for their support.

6. Wish list
Here's some stuff that I wish someone could help me with. If you can,
please contact me. You WILL get credit. Wishes are listed from easy
to miracle. :)
1. Please send feedback. Let me know if the editor is working correctly.
Also, for the character sprite/class editing part, sometimes the
characters stay as themselves when you change it, whereas other
times they become different characters. If someone would
comprehensively test out a character and then send in results as
to which ones change that character's class, we would be very grateful.
Please check our web page to see who we have already fully tested. The
person that submits it first gets credit. :)
2. I've been trying to get srm files to work with my SNES copier
(Super Disk Interceptor). There's nothing in the docs of my copier
about how to do this, but there should be a way. This copier can read
roms, so it is reasonable that it should be able to read srms as well.
However, when the copier makes its own "dumps" or srams, it does it in '
a weird format that is unreadable by computers. However, the roms
from computers ARE readable. I don't know if you just have to rename
the srms to something or if you have to add a header or what.
Someone out there should know. If you do, please contact me. :)
3. Rewrites of Der Langrisser. To everyone out there that wants to make
a new storyline for Der Langrisser, you are welcome to use this editor
to change the srm to fit your storyline. This should make it much
easier since you can change all the characters. You can make one for
the Chaos side with all the monsters. You could make on with the
heroes from the first game (Jessica and Ledin). Or something else. :)
All I ask is for you to give Roto and me credit for making Der
SRAMgrisser. Simple as that. No royalty fees or anything. ^_^
Though we would accept donations... ($1,000,000,000,000 US dollars
would make us feel very appreciated...) ;)
4. One of our original goals was to hack out the debug mode. Alamone's
Langrisser Memorial page says that a script dumps indicate it's
existence, but no one has been able to activate it. It may have
been programmed and then disabled. If anyone can re-enable it,
please let me know.
5. Finally, our last unfulfilled goal was to make a scenario editor.
If you can make one, contact me. :)
6. Finally, our last unfulfilled goal was to make Langrisser into a 2
Player game. One player controls the normal player side, while
another controls the CPU side. Anyone want to help me hack this
into the ROM?
